Cleaning is a chore that haunts us all our lives. It’s almost a daily chore that takes up a lot of time and energy. And this time could be spent playing with the kids, meeting up with friends or watching a film. That’s why most women in the world use household cleaners to speed up the cleaning process.
Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine good cleaning without chemicals. They have become an integral part of our lives. But there is a downside to this kind of cleaning. When detergents fight stains and plaque, they attack our skin, eyes and internal organs. Over time, this can lead to unpleasant consequences.
Today, many of today’s health-conscious cleaning equipment manufacturers have come up with a gentle alternative to cleaning with detergents – steam cleaning. It is the simplest and most environmentally-friendly way of removing household dirt and grime of any complexity. Steam cleans surfaces as thoroughly as chemicals. It has no mechanical effect on the surface.
Professional steam cleaning is one treatment that can use steam to remove dirt from almost any surface. The high-pressure steam not only liquefies grease and dirt, but also disinfects the surface to be cleaned, getting rid of most bacteria, germs and allergens. No synthetic cleaning agents are even used, which helps reduce cleaning costs and improves the environment of your home or flat.
But we would like to make a little reservation: hot steam – it’s not a magic wand, waving which you will remove even the 10-year dirt, and a steam cleaner – not a device that can cope with cleaning in 5 minutes in the flat. It will, however, allow you to get your home sparkling and clean in half the time.
In general, steam from a steam cleaner works great for grease or food stains in the kitchen, mould and plaque in the bathroom and toilet. It also quickly removes uncomplicated stains from upholstered furniture, freshens textiles and houseplant leaves, and disinfects children’s toys.
What can be cleaned with steam?
Steam can be applied to any surface that is not afraid of high temperatures. And in a flat there are a lot of such surfaces: cooker, burners, oven, microwave, hood, refrigerator, sink, tiles, joints between tiles, sanitary ware, bathroom and toilet, radiator, batteries, windows, mirrors, glass coffee table.
A steam cleaner will help you spend far less time cleaning these places. A steam cleaner can also clean just about any floor, except waxed parquet (hot steam tends to warp the wax). Many people today, after the hassle of cleaning carpets, have switched to parquet or laminate, which require wet cleaning. A steam cleaner comes with a special floor cleaning nozzle and a microfibre cloth. They help to remove all dust, hair and dirt from hard floor surfaces.
There are many other attachments included with the steam cleaner. Burners, handles, taps, joints between tiles, radiators and skirting boards can be cleaned with the round brush attachment.
The wider brush head is ideal for cleaning shower stalls, hobs, doors and kitchen cupboard doors, for example. The kit even includes microfibre cloths. When the surface is steamed, the dirt is loosened from the surface and transferred to the microfibre cloth. Incidentally, these cloths are very easy to wash in the washing machine.
Dust mites – will it get rid of them?
A device like a steam cleaner is a very topical item, especially for people suffering from allergies. Today, statistics show that one in five people suffer from allergies – and half of these are young children. Dust mites are a very common cause of allergic reactions. By cleaning with a steam cleaner we destroy dust mites and other invisible allergens, which makes life easier for allergy sufferers. Steam cleaning also eliminates unpleasant and humidifies the indoor air. It is considerably easier to breathe afterwards.
Soft toys contain a large number of harmful micro-organisms. Therefore, they should be steamed regularly to keep our children healthy. It is best to use a steam vacuum cleaner for these items. Steam cleaners help to kill all these harmful micro-organisms.
Doesn’t the house get too damp?
Many people think that steam cleaning leads to excessive humidity and therefore dampness in the flat. But that’s a misconception. The steam quickly evaporates on the surface, leaving the object to be cleaned almost dry. This makes the air fresher and more humid. And in winter, it’s even a plus. Hot radiators dehumidify the air, making it much easier to breathe after a wet cleaning.
But if you’re still worried that residual moisture might damage the surface, you can remove it with a dry cloth after cleaning.
